Thanks to Mark Norton and his team I have had two hip replacements which have proved transformative as far as regaining mobility and returning to total health. I can only recommend that anyone needing a hip replacement make Mark Norton your first port of call nor am I the first person to have said so.

I had been suffering on and off for two years with pain in my right hip and finally in March 2018 I lost a lot of mobility and suffered considerable pain. I was referred to Mr Norton at the Duchy hospital on the 16th May and he quickly diagnosed that I needed a total hip replacement to which I agreed. My operation was on the 18th July and went as explained with minimum fuss but good support. I had immediate relief to my hip pain and my recovery as an 80 year old has gone well apart from an infection around my ankle which was cleared with antibiotics. On my follow up meeting on the 5th September Mr Norton answered all my queries and was pleased with my progress. The whole process was carried out like clockwork with no waiting around or delays.

Mr Norton has always been informative and constructive in his opinions. He is also extremely approachable, essential for patients who may be nervous regarding the outcome of a diagnosis. His response to questions are thoughtful....even if one does not particularly appreciate the answers! Nothing negative.

My initial encounter with Dr Norton came after being referred to him by my GP. His warm, relaxed, but professional no nonsense approach took me off guard. I thought my appointment would require me to justify why I was there in front of him however, I could not have predicted what came next. Dr Norton's words were "well you know what happens next, you need a total hip replacement". I cannot tell you how relieved I felt after hearing those words having been in pain for a good many years thinking I had a groin strain and arthritis. Dr Norton went on to explain the steps before the operation and answer any questions I asked. When I left the appointment I had complete faith and understanding of what to expect even though I wasn't looking forward to going in hospital - (I am 64 and have been very fortunate to have had 62 yrs without staying overnight in a hospital). 6-weeks after the op I am walking without any aids and most of all pain free. Dr Norton has changed my future wellbeing beyond words to which I thank him. At my post-op meeting Dr Norton said he didn't want to see me again and respectfully I said the feeling was mutual.
